Hope Christian Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance. This allows us to provide personalized care without diagnosis requirements, treatment limitations, or insurance involvement in your counseling.

How long are sessions?

Individual counseling sessions are 60 minutes, and marriage counseling sessions are 75 minutes. The additional time allows us to work more thoroughly than the traditional 50-minute clinical hour.

Do you offer virtual counseling?

Yes. Secure telehealth sessions are available for clients anywhere in the country, in addition to in-person appointments in San Marcos.

Will counseling include prayer and Scripture?

My counseling is grounded in a Christian worldview, and Scripture and prayer can be thoughtfully incorporated when they align with your goals and comfort level.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum. As progress is made, many transition to meeting every other week or monthly. For meaningful results, we recommend a commitment of 6-8 sessions before reassessing.

What if my spouse won't come?

Individual counseling can still be a valuable place to grow, gain clarity, and learn healthier ways to respond within your relationship. Positive change often begins with one person.

Will you take sides?

No. My role is to advocate for the health of your relationship, not to determine who's winning or losing an argument. Both spouses deserve to feel heard, understood, and challenged when appropriate. My goal is to help you understand each other more deeply and work toward lasting change together.

What can we expect during a marriage counseling session?

Each session provides space for both spouses to share openly while learning practical skills to improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate conflict, and strengthen emotional and spiritual connection. You'll leave with greater clarity and often practical tools to begin applying between sessions.

Will you tell us to get a divorce?

No. My role is not to tell couples whether they should divorce. Just as I would never tell a client what career to pursue or what major life decision to make, I will not tell you to end your marriage. My commitment is to provide wise, biblically grounded counsel as you navigate your unique circumstances. I will help you honestly evaluate your relationship, explore your options, and pursue healing wherever possible, but the decision to remain married or pursue divorce ultimately belongs to you. My hope is always to help couples experience reconciliation, healthier communication, and a stronger marriage. At the same time, I respect each client's responsibility to prayerfully make their own decisions before God.
